Smoking ban stays in Appleton

Turns out the smoking ban in Appleton was not just the result of people that support smoking not going to the polls because they didn't take it seriously. The smoking ban will stay in Appleton after a referendum to overturn it failed 11,559 to 8,674.

This should pretty much end discussions of trying to overturn the ban here in Madison. If a more conservative community like Appleton did not overturn the ban, there is no way a more liberal community like Madison would support it.

You can find the story in the Appleton Post-Crescent here.

I was in Phoenix recently and it was the surrounding conservative cities that had the ban, whereas Phoenix had no limitations.

It is probally one of those issues that are not liberal or conservative. Oh yea, kind of like the recent Iraq War referendum.
