Finance Committee Fails to Approve
Additional funds for Holloway Case

The Milwaukee County Board's Finance committee voted 4-3 this morning to lay over the requested appropriation of an additional $150,000 to prosecute the 90-count ethics case against Chairman Lee Holloway.

Check Dailytakes throughout the day for more details, an analysis of what this means and look ahead at what's next.

It isn't over.

**Update**
Looks like the Journal Sentinel sent a reporter to cover today's meeting at least. Their take.

Nope. And, I don't see your point.

A quarter million dollars? To quote the head of the ethics board: "For what, because he didn't report a couple buildings?"

Where's your cost benefit analysis? Wouldn't a small and better designed complaint have been more effective, quicker and cheaper?

But, you don't really seem to care and are willing to throw unending tasx dollars at this thing.

No, to pay for all his procedural appeals as they prosecuted the case which came about after a lengthy investigation. The crux isn't a simple lack of disclosing income from a couple of buildings.

He voted on expenditures of tax dollars to OIC, right? He allegedly received funds from OIC in the form of rent and purchase payments for a building whose ownership never changed hands.

What is the cost of letting elected officials vote to expend public money from which they will be direct beneficiaries?

And these funds aren't just for Holloway. If not approved, there will be NO money for ANY ethics charge reviews for the rest of the board in the coming year.

Fraley, once again, you got a little fact problem. The COunty's insurance not the Ethics budget paid for the courts cases.

and yes, the funds were just for the holloway case.
