So, I spent a part of my non-getting-my-ass-kicked-by-deadlines portion of my day thinking about the feedback I've received regarding my revelation that I am not in favor of capital punishment.

Am I wimping out in my old age? (I did turn...gasp... 38 on Sunday) I thought about that and the other issues conservatives give a damn about. I would guess I am 87 percent pure.

Does that make me a moderate? Or a Rino?

It's worth exploring, and I will in the next few weeks.

My gut reaction is no. I recognize I can no longer tell people I am the most conservative person they ever met (a great "holy cow" line at places like Summerfest after spending an hour shooting the shit with people who've only seen me in jeans a t-shirt and a baseball cap).

I am comfortable with what I am. And I know I am more conservative than most folks who vote, even most folks who vote Republican.
...
Anyway, as I am thinking about whether I am ready to blog about this I stumble across our good friend Dennis York.

I will have more on all this whole topic throughout March and April.

But I have to admit while reading 'York's' post...I laughed some... cringed some...

To be continued.

Well, hey--I don't think the DP is all that useful, either.

Unless it happens that I catch some a&^%le raping one of my daughters.

THEN--after disengaging the jerk:

1) Load the .410ga, and place one shot directly into the crotch from about 10 yards;

2) Sanitize the wounds-area with a healty dose of household bleach, applied with a spray bottle;

3) Apply a rusty butterknife to the scrotum, horizontal to the ground. Continue using bleach to sanitize the wound.

4) Leave the scene and call an ambulance.

YI like to think of my self as a conservative in the old fashioned sense. Government has a very limited role in our lives because it does not do most things well, because it tends towards abuse, and because it both costs too much and interferes with personal responsibility.

This is exactly why I am totally anti deathpenalty. If I don't trust the government to impose much enviromental, tax, or other regulation (and I don't) I ain't gonna trust it to make the ultimate decision. I belive that's the conservative perspective, at least until "conservativisim" suffered some of the changes over the last years.
