The man that ended the cold war?? Sorry. The man that ended the cold war is buried in California. He didn't "end" the cold war... he LOST the cold war. Big difference. That's like saying Hitler was the man that ended WW2.

Hahahahahahhahahaha. You lost the cold war as a GIFT to us?? That's rich! Let me tell you what a gift is. A "gift" is the billions of dollars WE sent Russia and the other former soviet republics to keep them from falling off the map AFTER we beat your ass in the cold war. That was a gift.

What are people pissed about? The fact is that Gorbachev brought more freedom and economic openness to what was the USSR than ever before. Why do we hate him now?
Um, the fact is, he did not win the cold war. He was a communist member of the politburo who did what he could to retain power for the 'party,' which was not enough. Peace was not his gift to us
Am I wrong? Din't he greatly liberalize the USSR? Weren't we please with what he did? Fraley called this "outrageous." What's so outrageous? Clearly what was meant was that the end of the cold war benefitted the USA as well.
The idea of a well-informed American bashing Gorbachev is just odd. That senile, evil bastard reagan seemed to like him well enough.
And the article cited in Fraley's post is mainly about how Gorbi is hated in Russia as a sell-out to the west. again, why would you knee-jerk sloganeers not like the guy. USA! USA! USA! and so on.
