Tone Deaf at Van Hise

Quick Hit on a busy Friday.

Let me get this straight. Not only did the Regents move to boost the pay of UW administrators, they've moved to cut OUT OF STATE tuition.

What's wrong with that picture?

Everything.

This is Jim Doyle's Board of Regents in action, folks.

Waiting to hear reaction from Walker or Green.

To me, the only tuition that should be cut is in-state tuition. What do they think the W in UW stands for?

Do you folks do ANY research before bloviating? Are you aware that non-resident students pay TWICE the cost of instruction, hence the state makes money on every one of them? Or that the Republican Legislature and Democrat Governor raised non-resident tuition so high that the number has been dropping? Cutting the non-resident tuition will increase the number and increase the state's profit. This is good old Republican supply-side economics!

Dear Anonymous. The UW System's goal is to educate Wisconsin's young adults.

Out of state students SHOULD be subsidizing the University. The UW should make money on every one of them.

I personally, beleive tuition should be capped. That incoming freshman should be guaranteed that the increase in cost of a year's education will not be able to exceed a pre-set limit.

It's not about making money it's about keeping education affordable to Wisconsin's kids whose parents bear the brunt of outrageous taxation before, during and after their college years.

Brian, I think you should take away the option of posting anonymously.

People should have the guts to "show their faces".

And I promise to sign up for a blogger name if you change it. :)
