Shot to the Heart, and You're to Blame
You give Governors a bad name.
Another Friday.
Another veto.
Unfortunately, my take is that a Dem in the Assembly with flip and the veto override vote will fail.Governor Doyle today announced that he will veto Senate Bill 403, legislation that would allow concealed weapons into almost all public places in the state, when he returns to Madison late this afternoon.
The Governor made the following statement:
"I am proud to stand with the overwhelming majority of law enforcement throughout Wisconsin who oppose this legislation. This bill would allow loaded, hidden guns at shopping malls, concerts, banks, playgrounds, and even school zones, putting our kids and communities at risk."The bill does not create a single job, help a single Wisconsin citizen afford health care, or improve schools for a single Wisconsin child. The Legislature should spend more time trying to get jobs into our communities instead of more guns. It is time for them to start addressing the priorities of hardworking Wisconsin families - like making heath care and heating bills more affordable, ensuring every student who is willing to work for it can attend college, and creating good, family-supporting jobs."

While it makes me incredibly sad to admit it.
I agree with you.
No Democrat is going to want to be the one who voted to finally override a Doyle veto.
I think many Governors--Democrat and Republican across the country--would be proud to stand beside Doyle on this one.
People who feel they need to pack heat walking through a shopping mall, at outdoor festivals, or inside a bank should seek help from a professional for their rampant paranoia.
Studies have shown time & time again that a gunowner is far more likely to injure or kill a family member of acquaintance with a firearm than an intruder. This law would increase the chances of violent incidents escalating in public places and leading to mistaken shootings and killings.
Go home and watch a Rambo movie and chill out.
