Scumbag Lawyers One and All
There was never any doubt in my mind that Doyle's henchmen were behind the eleventh hour Elections Board ruling that directed Mark Green to divest of nearly half a million dollars in legally transferred funds.
I even suggested to others that phone records would show a trail of calls between board members and "the powers that be" in the Doyle Administration. What never occurred to me was that the Democratic Party's lawyer Mike Maistelman would be stupid enough to instruct three of the four Democratic board members as to how they should find.
The genius Maistelman even pointed out in writing that one of the Governor's appointees (who no doubt figured the whole scheme out through osmosis) should not be included in their email chain as it would constitute a quorum of the Elections Board and violate open meeting laws.
Maistelman told the happy trio that even if Green challenged their ruling in court it would be a "PR victory since it makes Green spend his money and have to defend the use of his Washington D.C. dirty money."So the Doyle campaign and Democratic Party used the State Elections Board to further their campaign goal of making Mark Green spend money.
It's too bad the taxpayers will also have to spend money defending their bogus ruling in court today. What's next - a break in at the Republican Party of Wisconsin headquarters?
But what the hell, these scumbag lawyers are playing for keeps even as Doyle is airing his latest "I am not a crook" ad.

JB Van Hollen, Doyle they are all of the same ilk.
Must you use such distasteful language?
"Scumbag," "Hell" -- These are hardly appropriate to the vocabulary of enlightened political discourse.

Both campaigns are playing this stupid.
Green should divest the $, then argue.
Doyle's team should have sat back and watched.
The only player looking good is Jacob Burns, the Election Board's Libertarian.
It must take one to know one.
Partisan attacks from both corners distract from the focus on issues that should be the substance of campaigns.
Just listening to (and watching) "talk media" and reading the biased pages of the newspaper makes honest, information seeking citizens throw up their hands in frustration.
Doyle's attorney made a stupid mistake with this email but don't pretend that conversations like these don't go on all the time about the political costs and benefits of every conceivable issue by everyone involved.
Gloat if you like but if you live by this guilt by association nonsense then be prepared to die by it.
Green's aides are connected to Jack Abramoff and that trumps this BIG TIME. Green did accept money from interest groups and insert their language, word for word, in his correspondence.
So let's be a little honest here before we totally alienate the electorate and end up electing a third party candidate like Minnesota did with Jesse Ventura.

A poor choice of words from someone who appears far more cultured and educated than that. The problem I have the environment today is how badly everyone distorts and twists just about everything. The outcome is an 18 month federal prison sentence for a low level state employee - Thompson. She does not have the money to fight fight fight in the courts like Jensen has nor does she have a six figure job on the side. Jensen's 15 month sentence on three felony convictions looks light now versus Thompson's 18 month sentence on two felony convictions.
You don't sue the state you want to be Governor in.
Green's violation has more to do with federal law than state.
Maybe tommorrow after his little fundraiser with Cheney, they haul him away in handcuffs, thats would be a Kodak moment.
