The following is from a profile on the Zien/Kreitlow senate race. Sometimes I read stuff from Zien and think, I could never make shit like this up. At any rate, here's the snippet, the source is http://www.leadertelegram.com/story.asp?id=75294:
-------
Zien supports a state constitutional amendment on November’s ballot that defines marriage as between a man and a woman. The measure twice was approved by the Senate judiciary committee, which Zien leads.
“At our committee, lawyers testified that in Wisconsin state statutes are so vague that a person could marry an animal and if it were to be challenged in court, attorneys could determine that,” Zien said on WEAU.
Kreitlow was incredulous.
“I can’t wait to see which lawyer’s going to want to take the case of trying to say in Wisconsin you can marry an animal,” he replied sarcastically.
-----------
Around our house we longer reference the Defense of Marraige amendment. It is now, with apologies to Bach, the Sheep May Safely Graze amendment. Sen Zien is voting Yes. For the lambs.
At this point one should find if the insurance companies have written up business health plans that eliminate single parent coverage?
What bills are being written in Madison, as we speak, to outlaw any benefits, if this moronic amendment is passed.
And most importantly, how much state tax money is being put away for the legal defense of it's Constitutionality, we all know that is where it's headed either way the vote goes.
It's is moronic amendment, and John Gard should have refused it until the April primary in 2008. Not the general election as he did.
