Maybe voters actually LIKE Herb Kohl
While Jessica McBride tries to find reasons to like Robert Gerald Lorge, the Republican candidate for US Senate that no one recruited or wanted, claiming Lorge is more in touch with Wisconsin voters than Sen. Herb Kohl, Michael Mathias rises to defend our senior Senator:

I know, I know—this is the jaded age. Any suggestion that Wisconsin voters actually like Kohl, and haven’t just been purchased by him, is greeted with jeers from Republicans...
But just maybe Wisconsin voters will reelect Senator Kohl because he reflects their values, votes their conscience, and has been an effective representative for the state.
True, he is not flashy. He is, however, extremely popular—and with just about everybody. During his last run in 2000, Harris Interactive produced a poll giving Kohl support from 91% of self-identified Democrats and 67% of Independents. No surprise there, but he also had the support of 43% of Republicans. And—hang on, it gets even better—45% of conservatives.

Actually, I'm sure people like Herb Kohl. But not everyone who is likeable should be U.S. Senator.
Being unlikeable sure seems to be the strategy Team Bush is using.
Likeability is easy when no one knows anything about you except for the kindly old man that the media puts forth, who buys a lot of cool stuff for Wisconsin.
If the media did its job, and the Democrats actually knew about Kohl, the consistent support he gives to the Bush agenda, and his complete lack of spine - the numbers might be a lot different. If they knew he supported the war, the bankruptcy bill, the Defense of Marriage act, parental notification, the Bush tax cuts, etc...they might have a different picture of Herb Kohl.
Thats why I'm supporting Green Party candidate Rae Vogeler for U.S. Senate. She's a tough woman, a working mom, and has demonstrated she's willing to stand up to power through her 30 years of community organizing and activism. Unfortunately the media isn't covering the WI U.S. Senate race at all - because they've already decided the winner. So I urge you to visit www.voterae.org to find out for yourself.
